Philanthropy Cord
In collaboration with the Office of Community Service, the Office of Development provides each member of the graduating class with the opportunity to earn a Philanthropy Cord to be worn during the commencement ceremony. This cord recognizes the student’s commitment to the University and the community through volunteer service hours and financial support.
To qualify, a student must make a minimum gift of the class year (e.g. 2023 graduates should make a minimum gift of $20.23) to a UL Lafayette designation of their choice and complete 20 hours of volunteer service throughout the UL Lafayette academic career (10 hours during the graduating year).
Students interested in receiving a philanthropy cord must also submit documentation verifying the number of volunteer hours served signed by the organization's volunteer supervisor or have an email from the organization's volunteer supervisor sent to kayla.hebert@louisiana.edu.
